William "Bill" Baker:

Bill Baker passed away unexpectedly in September 2017. He had retired from work and was living his best life. He continued to follow his favorite band, Yes, and was able to see them finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was also a big fan of the Washington Capitals, but unfortunately, he didn’t live long enough to see them win the Stanley Cup.

Bill was cremated, and his ashes were combined with cement to create an artificial reef for marine life. The reef is on the Atlantic Ocean floor off Topsail Beach, NC.

Robert Carl Peniston:

Born in Newport, RI on 12 May 1953 to Robert Carl Peniston and Frances Elizabeth McKelvy. Robert Carl Peniston passed away on 8 April 1975 in Richmond, Virginia.

Robert Carl Peniston, 22, of Pensacola, FL died Tuesday in Richmond of heart failure.  A university spokesman said Mr. Peniston was in Richmond for a job interview and collapsed while jogging for exercise. He was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He was a senior at Washington & Lee University.  He was the son of Navy Capt. and Mrs. Robert C. Peniston of Pensacola.  Until last fall, the family lived in Norfolk.  He was to have received his B.S. degree in business administration next month.  He was a Dean’s List student and active in Kappa Sigma social fraternity.  Besides his parents, survivors include a sister, Lisa Peniston, a student at Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, VA.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 11, at 2 pm in Robert E. Lee Episcopal Church, Lexington, by the Rev. D.  Holmes Irving and assisted by Navy Capt. Charles L. Keyser, staff chaplain at Pensacola Naval Air Station. Burial will be in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington.
